In 2024, surgeon Guillaume Altwegg asked me to paint my vision of medicine, and I found myself going first toward the mythic figures of Asclepius and Epione. As I worked, the painting shifted away from anything purely clinical and landed somewhere more intimate, in the place where healing begins with family. That is why I brought in my son, Maharlika, and added the comic-strip style genesis in the lower corner, so the work could carry both the finished image and the path that led to it. Now it hangs in Guillaume’s clinic, and that means a lot to me, especially knowing his father collected Yan Pei-Ming, one of the painters who shaped my early eye.
