About this work
I painted Baseball Kid after seeing a mixed-culture family playing together in New York during Christmas. The boy’s focus, the Yankee jersey, the leather glove, the cold air, all of it felt like a small ritual carrying something larger about America and the way identity gets passed on. I kept the city fractured behind him in deep indigos, industrial greys, and sudden warm light so the moment could feel both intimate and suspended in memory.
