About this work
With Femme Berbère, I wanted the woman’s presence to feel dignified and fully alive, not frozen inside an old image. Her ceremonial regalia gave me terracotta reds, deep ochres, flashes of sky blue, and thick passages of paint that echo textile and jewelry. I kept the background unstable, almost misted and bruised, so she could stand at the meeting point of memory and the changing world without losing her strength.
