Seve
About this work
"Meena Breast" is a visceral, large-scale masterpiece born from the high-concept collaboration between French painter Henri Lamy and Filipino photographer Terence Angsioco. As a cornerstone of the "Seve" series, this work represents a radical intersection of digital precision and raw, analog expressionism.
The title of the series, "Seve" (French for 'Sap'), evokes the life force that flows through both the natural world and the human body. In this collaboration, Angsioco’s photographic eye provides the structural soul—a captured moment of vulnerability and strength—while Lamy’s kinetic interventions act as the "sap" that brings the image into a new, textured dimension.
The Photographic Base: A stunning print on high-quality paper featuring a female subject (Meena) provides the foundation. Angsioco’s composition explores the harmony between the human form and botanical elements.
The Painterly Intervention: Lamy utilizes mixed media, applying bold strokes of black, white, and vibrant green acrylics and oils directly onto the print. These marks are not mere decorations; they are an extension of the subject's energy, echoing his background in Capoeira-inspired movement.
Street Art Aesthetics: The use of spray paint textures and "tag-like" linework creates a dialogue with urban contemporary art, contrasting the soft, organic curves of the subject with the sharp, rhythmic pulse of the city.
Graphic Borders and Iconography: Similar to other works in Lamy’s 2025 collection, the piece is framed by a vertical strip of intricate icons and glyphs, creating a narrative "sidebar" that suggests a deeper, encoded cultural history.
