About this work
In Nu Endormi, I entered into conversation with the Odalisque tradition of Ingres and Matisse, but I wanted the body to feel dreamed rather than posed. I built the figure with warm, pointillist-like marks that dissolve into an electric blue atmosphere, so skin and air almost melt into each other. What interested me was not the old ideal, but the softness of sleep and the vibration of color around it.
