Pablo and Fernando

Here I brought Fernando Amorsolo’s bathing women into the same room as a Picasso-like fracture of form. I loved the golden provincial warmth of Amorsolo, but I needed to break the image open and let several viewpoints breathe at once. My geometric grid ties those histories together, holding the figure between sensual calm and a more analytical, contemporary structure.
